Finally, the IPL has completed a decade and is going to enter another decade. The IPL has left many epic memories in our mind over the past ten years. In the last decade, many personal milestones were achieved as well. The 11th season will bring yet another excitement and thrill with it. Many players set their foot but only a few of them have grabbed the presence.
But there are still some players who performed really well but yet to achieve the limelight and respect they deserve. Few of them got unnoticed over the past few years. In this edition, here are the underrated players who could bring the X-factor in this edition of the league.
Ambati Rayadu – Chennai Super Kings
He has been in the buzz for all wrong reasons. He started his domestic career at a young age but faced setback when BCCI banned the right-handed batsman for playing ICL. He played well for the Mumbai Indians but overshadowed by the likes of Kieron Pollard and Rohit Sharma.
The 32-year-old is acquired by the Chennai Super Kings this time. In the first few games, he may not get the opportunity he deserves but he may deliver whenever he has a chance. Averaging 27.14, the former MI batsman scored 2416 runs in IPL. He has batted at number 4, 5 and 6 for the most of IPL career.
Vijay Shankar – Delhi Daredevils
Recruited by Delhi Daredevils, Vijay Shankar is yet another underrated player that only a few of us know about. Recently, he played for Nidahas Trophy and represented India. He is a bowling all-rounder but his batting line-up is yet to be seen in the next IPL. The 27-year-old played 5 IPL matches.
He scored 63* for Gujarat Lions in last edition. He scored 101 runs, averaging 50.50. In the IPL, he has bowled only once. He might surprise the rivals as he has not been seen batting too much. He is an underrated all-rounder who could emerge as a winner for Delhi Daredevils.
Jos Buttler – Rajasthan Royals
This English wicketkeeper has been amazing these days for England. For the English side, he has emerged himself as a great finisher. Unfortunately, he is underrated in IPL. Averaging 25.09, he scored 527 runs in IPL. He has most impressive strike rate of 145.98. In the auction of this year, Buttler was acquired by the Rajasthan Royals. When openers like D’Arcy Short and Rahane were available, the management may choose Buttler as a finisher. Out of his 527 runs, he scored 386 from boundaries, which is a threat to the rivals.
Aaron Finch – Kings XI Punjab
Starting his career with Delhi Daredevils in IPL, Finch will keep playing for yet another northern side, i.e. Kings XI Punjab. The opening batsman is one of the best T20 players across the world. At average of 27.65, he scored 1604 runs. He can easily tackle the spinners in the middle order.
Chris Woakes – Royal Challengers Bangalore
This English player featured in 13 games in IPL and took 17 wickets for KKR. The 29-year-old has improved a lot in the off-season. He might emerge as one of the main assets for the team in this IPL edition with his inevitable form.
