Why West Indies Just Depends upon Batting even without Winning?

West Indies has just lost 6 games in a row but it still gets all the love and praise from New Zealand. Obviously, most of it because of its clichéd interviews of athletes where teams are not giving unnecessary motivation to their rivals. New Zealand, on the other side, has usual babble of how they shouldn’t overlook them, when playing Equatorial Guinea.

Though it seems West Indies is a reasonable way to win with the nature of T20 cricket, the reason behind the careful respect of the hosts is mostly Chris Gayle. When West Indies gets all the credit from Kane Williamson, it is more on knowing the threat from Gayle who can change the game singlehandedly.

The Black Caps captain added, “We know that T20 side of West Indies is even stronger and they can use it at any time.” The talent of West Indies suggests something else, though the historical accolades backs up on the viewpoint of Williamson.

Only three players are remained from the winning side of T20 World Cup 2016 and then replaced by less efficient and competent group. They were replaced by a bunch of stroke players who have yet to score as frequently as required in the format, despite the likes of Marlon Samuels, Johnson Charles, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo, and Darren Sammy.  Samuel Badree, the senior spinner in West Indies, is knowingly sure in the abilities of his teammates in support of Chris Gayle. He said that they have some quality teammates and he believes that they are not too reliant on him.

Only Gayle has up to 113 of strike rate out of 6 batsmen. In a format, you must score at least 120 runs as an international batsman. The top order of West Indies is completely not up to the mark, especially when Evan Lewis is not there.

Chadwick Walton has been left to shine. In 32 innings, Andre Fletcher has 106 of strike rat and Shai Hope has 68 of ODI strike rate. Somehow, he has ended up with T20 side. Carlos Brathwaite has a great presence at No.7 despite having solid bowlers. It also feels that the top order of West Indies will follow Gayle.

On the other side, top order of New Zealand is balanced well. From the initial T20, the top five of them have 120 or higher strike rate like Williamson, who missed the previous three games because of force to be rested.

Williamson has a lot of perks to stay ahead despite the risks to miss out the chances in international cricket. It’s quite exciting for them to bounce back and it’s great to have a couple of days at home to plan things.

One of the best things of having them back is that they can give some more time to their guys at great level. It will definitely help with that level of depth. Williamson is going to slot back with top order and it has a lot of options for them.
