The second T20I between India Women and South Africa Women in Surat was abandoned due to persistent rain, without even the toss taking place.
The covers were firmly in place in the lead up to the match. There was an inspection scheduled at 8pm local, which is when the umpires made the call.
India registered a convincing victory over South Africa in the first T20I, bowling the visitors out for 119 while defending only 130. Deepti Sharma stood out with bowling figures of 3 for 8, which included three maidens. The game saw a full house at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium. Even today, the stadium saw a good crowd in attendance despite a telling forecast for the evening.
The washout today means that India go into the third of the five games with their 1-0 lead intact. The next match between the sides will again be in Surat, on September 29.
