The first edition of the latest T10 Cricket League (TCL) has been advanced now. One of the tournament’s board members, Parvez Khan added that the schedule changes were made to skip the clashes with other significant matches and to focus completely on maximizing the player pool.
According to him, the league organizers are also in talks with AB de Villiers, the South African legend, along with few of the big names in Australia, to take part in the upcoming season.
Parvez added to Sportstar, “The dates were clashing with Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand and the Big Bash League (BBL). So, the players who were already playing there wouldn’t be available. This is why we decided to change it. According to PCB, we need to look into the chances of shifting those dates. With the help of this, we can have better player pool.”
According to the board member, they are trying hard to get AB into the league with eagerness to rope in a couple of modern superstars. There will be a space between Big Bash and TCL. So, even Aussie players may be the part of it.
If you didn’t know, the TCL is the latest addition to the long list of tournaments based on franchises. Each match is going to be played with simply 10 overs on each side, unlike other leagues. It is also going to last only 90 minutes or so.
And the heart of the matter is that the first part of TCL will likely to have Virender Sehwag, Chris Gayle, Kumar Sangakkara and Shahid Afridi to be participating. The flashy quartet has also been roped in as event’s brand ambassadors. All the matches are scheduled to be held at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, UAE.
When the upcoming season was initially scheduled to be played from December 21 to 24, the revised schedule will get the tournament to be played from December 14 to 17. According to several franchises, AB de Villiers will hopefully return and various other members of current Australian and Pakistani teams are to be up.
AB de Villiers will participate in the T20I two-match series to be played on October 26 and 29 against Bangladesh at Manguang Oval and Senwes Park. With the upcoming T20 Global couldn’t take off, there are several high-profile players in South Africa who will be free until the 4-day Boxing Day Test to be played against Zimbabwe. When the BBL season 2017-18 is slated to be played on December 19, tour of New Zealand to Pakistan will be taking place in January.
When large numbers of existing members of Pakistani team may join the former greats from various countries, the first TCL should start with huge fanfare. In case the tournament organizers land a huge coup by signing stature of de Villiers, there is a huge hit of inaugural season among the masses.
In case Bangladesh is smashed by South Africa by 3-0, SA will achieve 121 points, who are tied on 120 points with India. If New Zealand loses to India in the ODI of 3-match series being played in Mumbai, India will reach the top position.
