3 Deserving Players who can replace Wriddhiman Saha for India test against Afghanistan

India’s leading wicketkeeper for Test format in India, Wriddhiman Saha faced a huge blow when his right thumb was injured during Qualifier 2 of the recently finished IPL 2018. He also missed the IPL finals because of his injury. Since Saha cannot play in one-off test on June 14 against Afghanistan, have a look on the key players who can replace him.

  1. Dinesh Karthik

The wicket keeper and batsman has been one of the best captains in IPL because of his first-class batting and amazing wicket-keeping spells. He has also been in rich vein to develop as he has scored over 498 runs in significant average of 49.80. along with it, his strike rate was tremendous 147.77 in this season.

It will be a like for like replacement by playing Karthik instead of Saha as he has been in great form over the past one year. If India chooses to have Karthik in the side, it would be like having a virtual vice captain as Rahane is all set to lead the side to fill the absence of Virat Kohli.

  1. Parthiv Patel

He is a wicket-keeper batsman who can play both as middle-order batsman and an opener for the team. He is also a great player who can easily run the chase and rotate strike. For the past two Tests this year in India’s South Africa tour, he has been called up as a replacement for Saha. He has great experience under his belt and he might be a great contender as a replacement to Saha.

  1. Rishabh Pant

The left-handed batsman is such a classy player and he was one of the only hopes for Delhi Daredevils in this season. The excellent form of Rishabh Pant in the IPL has bagged him Emerging Player of the Tournament along with most aggressive striker in IPL. With the fact that Pant can also be the best player to replace for the No. 3 position for Kohli, he might be the best contender to get the nod. If Pant fields at No. 3 in XI, it bolsters the upper-middle order strength in India.
